Current Opening: Specifications Editor Local design firm seeks talented individual with strong administrative skills and proficiency in writing and editing for position as Specifications Editor. The ideal candidate will be someone with an excellent knowledge of written English, has a strict attention to detail, and can edit information received from subject matter experts into a coherent master document. Experience in a construction, architecture, or engineering organization is a plus! The Specifications Editor is responsible for gathering, coordinating, reviewing and editing design specification, design analysis reports, and other design and construction documents for submittals to our clients. This will include but is not limited to General, Civil, Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire, Electrical design specifications, to and from each discipline. Duties also include assisting production team in gathering, preparation and delivery of these design submittals (multiple submittals through Bid Documents). The Editor is responsible for the printing, binding, and assistance with shipping these documents. The Specifications Editor will also act as the construction administration (CA) services tracker maintaining the construction administration folder tracking system, maintain submittal and RFI logs, forward submittals to Team Users, and log submittals by Division and keep everyone informed on deadlines. Coordination with Team Members to keep submittals current and to alert the Project Manager of any key issues in meeting project submittal deadlines is critical. Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications or related field from accredited university. • And minimum of three (3) years of full-time technical writing and editing experience or the equivalent amount of education and proven administrative support experience in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) industry or other professional service industry. • Also required is proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, master Word files generated by clients and Adobe Acrobat; ability to use SpecsIntact and Master Works may be trained. • Ability to read and write English, superior knowledge of grammar and punctuation. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organization skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. • An ability to work under pressure of tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously is necessary. • Availability to work full time (40 hrs +) (exempt position); prefer position working in office, but some flexibility to work from home during shift. • Position requires in office review and production support frequently and availability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
